Definitely should be considered when looking for a VoIP provider. VoIP Your Life is a great service. I've had two other VoIP services and out of all, only VYL has provided consistent high quality service and pricing. While you can block up to 20 numbers, I do wish I could block more telemarketer numbers and such. Also, their support is not quite as 'polished' in the customer service department as say Vonage, but I can always get the help I need and they are always friendly and maybe that's a good thing! Overall, the price and service has fit nicely into my family's needs.

The equipments came quickly. The setup was easy enough. The Customer Service always answers your call right away and they ACTUALLY help you. Switched over after Sunrocket closed their business, and I am glad that I did. 2 extra virtual numbers are great for I have side businesses for which I can use those numbers. I did notice a slight delay, but it wasn't enough to be bothersome while I was talking. I have used it for a year now. All in all, this is a good service. I think I will stick with them.

Ordered, received and setup in less than 72 hours. I have never had a single problem with the services short of send long faxes, but from my research this is a continuing issue with all the services and you might want to consider a broadband fax machine. Highly recommend this company. Though I couldn't find their reviews on this site when I first order over 1.5 years ago they had a flawless track record and have lived up to it.

VYL has the best Customer Service and their people will help you with whatever your questions are. I've had multiple calls support (I have little questions on scenarios, unlocking my SPA2102, and Free PBX things) and every person has been knowledgeable and very nice. It's actually worth the cost just for the support they will give you. They'll help you with equipment that's not even their own... who else does that?

I have put 'would I recommend' to NO even though everything is great and there is a reason for it. If you know for sure that you are never going to exceed 2500 minutes per month then voipyourlife is great. Their service is great, their customer service is excellent. But their unlimited plan is falsely advertised to be unlimited when there is really a cap on it. They recently decided to (without warning) put me on a basic plan with 200 outgoing minutes only. I am going to be switching to another company in the mean time. A couple of things that are not good about voipyourlife. They don't give you warnings. They just DO whatever they want to do and fire you an email about it. They thought my credit card was fraudulent and cut my service without any warning whatsoever. I could not even call their customer service to rectify the problem. I ended up using my cell phone minutes, which racked up easily since it took a good 45 minutes to sort out the issue. They also, without warning, switched me to a lower plan rather than sending me a warning email to lower my usage (even though the plan is unlimited by the way). Their webadmin page does not have total minutes used. Good luck trying to add up the minutes of all your calls manually. So if you can keep your minutes usage below 2500, go with them, they are a good company. If not, don't expect them to understand that you are calling your family abroad, because they will think that you are reselling their service even if you are calling the same numbers (same numbers = same family members and not the whole of US or UK).

Nov '07 Vonage was at the top of the ratings here, and VYL was second. After reading scads of reviews it became apparent that Vonage was going down the tubes and had nil for customer service, while VYL was mostly good with excellent customer service at significantly less cost. So I got VYL. - Installation was simple enough, but did require a call to tech support. That support person answered in *LESS* than a minute and addressed my issue on the spot, so I gave it five stars. CAVEAT: Number porting, which VYL says is contracted out to a third party, was a NIGHTMARE. It took five months to port my number because they kept saying the DSL had to be converted to dry loop before they could port it. The phone company said they do this all the time and if dry loop is done the number will be lost and not able to be ported. The phone company was right - I finally got the morons to just do the port anyway and *ding*, no problem. - When I started a year ago I could fax. Now I can't, but their web site and their sales staff clearly indicate fax isn't strictly supported, so I can't really ding them for that. I can add virtual numbers, and I have done that for the D.C. area, but while that number works perfectly, no one at work can dial it. I've had a trouble ticket in for this for two months now without resolution. VYL says the D.C. switching station is mis-configured and the D.C. phone company says the provider (VYL in this case) has to request remediation. So the virtual number thing comes across a bit spotty. - I've had echoes on my line from day one. The closer the other end is to my house, physically, the more severe the echo. The neighbor, 400 feet away, is the worst. Calling work 481 miles away the quality is so crystal clear that even now, a year later, a pause in the conversation results in an "are you there?". It's so incredibly quiet that no talking sounds like a dropped call - but it's not. It's just QUIET. Over the months VYL has done numerous tweaks to the appliance and the echoes have been significantly reduced, but they are still present. I think these echo tweaks are what whacked fax. NOTE: I researched VoIP echoes on the 'net, and documentation for a commercial PBX product indicates these are caused by wiring problems in an analog connection on the *other* end. Essentially there is a feedback loop that the analog system would filter, but the digital system does not. So that echo has always been present but it doesn't appear until VoIP is installed. - About a month ago I started getting dropped calls, which happened randomly and with increased frequency. It finally refused to dial at all, which was more than a little annoying, *however* I never *told* VYL about it until it wouldn't dial. Once I e-mailed them it was addressed in a matter of hours; since then (a whole four days) I haven't had any problems. - So other than some wonkiness and echoes the service has worked extremely well.

I wanted to leave a note about VoipYourLife because of their excellent customer service. I signed up for the service while living abroad so that I could keep a US based number. Based on other reviews, I picked this company. Within hours of signing up for the account, they noticed what appeared to be fraudulent activity coming from my account (US number in use from a foreign IP), and disabled me. Why is this a good thing? Because it means they are looking out for their customers and their credit cards. I called their tech support line and in less than a minute got a polite and helpful man on the line. He directed me to their customer support people, and again I got a polite and helpful woman on the line. She explained the situation, how I could resolve it (fax them proof that I was who I said I was), and was interrupted by her supervisor, who spoke to me personally, re-enabled my account, and politely answered some questions about number portability. Total time to resolve the situation: 6 minutes. In a world where good customer service is getting someone on the line after 30 minutes of hold music and having a rep who cant deviate from a script, this was a huge surprise. I highly recommend VoipYourLife to anyone else who is considering them as a VoIP provider. So far: The call quality has been good. They can port in numbers from cell and landline providers. The customer service is great. They don't lock you to a single device. They support softphones.

have used them now 2+ yrs, up front setup was easy, but needed to work with Verizon FiOS and VoIPYourLife to get the quality of service correct and work out kinks in the FiOS service. Every now and then you get an echo on the lines. Most notable during heavy network traffic. Also telephone voice can be a problem and that certain voice will generate digit sounds in the ear piece. Mine sits behind the actiontec router, opened ports directly to it, sealed all other routes off and have had no issues. Have the router and VoIPYourLife box connected to a 10 hour back up battery system to match the Verizon FiOS backup system. Electricity goes out, I have a phone for 10 hours. If it is longer, a simple log into the internet (cell on a laptop) and forward all calls to the cell phone. Short money for the quality. I have only called CS now 3 times in the past 30-33 months.

Excellent, responsive customer service, able to handle my out-of-the-ordinary requests nicely. Minimal wait times. Quality of calls good to very good. I am a BYOD running my own asterisk on macosx with two lines.

Only one week into service with no issues. Set-up was easy, but not obvious. I chose to do on-line and only call if I was stuck. There is a set-up wizard for the hardware they support, but the only way to find it was through the user forum. Once there, it was a no-brainer. Very satisfied.
