Switched to 8x8 several years ago after owning/maintaining our own PBX. 8x8 has worked out very well for us: 1) Not having to own and maintain a PBX. 2) Ability for employees who work at home to use their 8x8 phone as if they were in the office. 3) Ability for everybody to use the 8x8 iPhone app when on the road or working remotely so they're effectively in the office. 4) Web interface for handling voicemail - we find this much more efficient than just slogging through voicemail the old-fashioned way.

I love that I can take my phone anywhere with me! On the go, working from home, a different office, no matter where I am, I have my extension and so does everyone in the office. It keeps us all connected and keeps our workflow going, even after we leave for the day. There is rarely a lack of communication with our 8x8 system keeping us together no matter where we are! Our schedules and company are more flexible with VoIP!

When the product works, it works well. However, I downgrade this service for two reasons. 1) When tech support is needed, it is hard to get good quick tech support from them. 2) They do NOT have a windows phone app yet.

Like many small businesses involved in the retail supply chain, my company began struggling with the major consolidations in the industry during the 2000's. By 2008, we had to start downsizing, and we moved to smaller office facilities and reduced personnel. We had a PBX system we had purchased some years before, and told our local phone company to move it to the new location for us, never even thinking about the cost. They charged us almost $2500 just to install our system, which had been purchased from them! 2 years later, our office building was sold, and we were forced to move again. This time, however, instead of moving our PBX system and phones, we walked away and left them behind, because we discovered 8x8. For less than $1,000, we bought our equipment and set up the new system in a matter of a few hours. We also slashed our monthly bill, and with a flat rate, it became a predictable fixed cost instead of a variable cost. We now have a host of new features the old system did not have, and a portable platform that is continually enhanced to grow with us instead of deteriorating toward obsolescence.

What I love most about 8X8 is that regardless of where I am or what device I have with me, I can CHOOSE to take a call as if I'm sitting at my desk. I also appreciate the voicemail feature that lets me express an internal message as well as an external message. That allows the opportunity to utilize individual messages based on familiarity. I appreciate the flexibility.

Service is consistently top drawer with respect to hardware (phone models), system software features, high quality of service, customer support and company-wide integrity.

I love that it allows me to listen to my voicemail via email when I'm away from my office phone (which is often!). This is a great feature and it allows me to respond to voicemail a lot quicker!

We love the scalability of 8x8, which means that we can add an employee at any time! We can customize our wait time music, auto attendant, and call forwarding settings. This is ideal for our employees because they travel so much. But what we love most of all is the ability to use 8x8 on a Polycom desk phone, as software on a computer, as an app on a phone, or even through the web browser. As long as you have an Internet connection, you're ready to make a call!

The features of the voicemail system are very robust but the setup is not "plug and play". If you run into a problem with voice quality (i.e. drop calls, unclear calls, etc.) it will require you to reconfigure your network with a stand alone cable modem (often a specific brand/model) and a specific brand/model of router. 8x8 is not fully tested and operational with all in one cable modem/router most often installed by your cable provider. This can be a real headache having to go out and buy hardware (i.e. cable modem and router). In order for 8x8 to stay in the forefront of this industry the phones need to be "plug and play" with all cable modems used by the cable companies. We are an 8x8 user since 2007 with currently 15 phones

Long story short ... I love that wherever I am; my voicemails follow me on my mobile phone or iPad. No checking in on the phone and writing down phone numbers ... they're kept in my emails for as long as I want. Awesomely simple.
