I've used Lingo for over 3 years now and have only had 2 or 3 problems with service that only required unplugging the phone box for 3 minutes. The unlimited free long distance to Western Europe is what keeps me with Lingo. I tried to talk to customer service once but couldn't understand a thing they said.

I have been Lingo client for more then 3 years. I could live with so-so connection quality once-in- awhile interruption of service and absolutely pathetic technical support, because their international prices were unbeatable (were is a key word). I had one of the ?unlimited? services. Starting April 2008 they decided to charge me full price for the Service PLUS per minute. I had to call every month to their customer service to deal with barely English speaking people - every time they apologized ? give me the credit and next month same happened again. Finally I cancelled the subscription. Stay away.

I had the unlimited world plan. Mos of you guys cant find it on the site because its not available anymore. Well they stopped having it and didn't notify me. So from one day to the next I was billed over 400 dollars. I wish they would have told me that my UNLIMITED plan was changed. The Indian guy on the phone had no idea what he was doing. Custer service is non existent. Also I could not use my call waiting feature and in the end they told me it was because my device didn't support that. wow they could have told me that before I bought this thing. If you are thinking of getting VOIP go somewhere else.

1. At the time of ordering the service you do not know if they have your area code or not. I called and asked the customer support assured me they have it, but they DID NOT. I learned about it only when the equipment arrived. I stuck with it anyway. Now all my local callers have to call me long distance. 2. Customer support is NON EXISTENT. The support personnel at the other end are very polite they apologize for everything but they have no idea about your complaint. They have to ?ELEVATE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL? and you never hear from them again. It is very frustrating to have any issue. It is how LINGO handles the business and not the location of the support center. The lack of training should not be blamed on the personnel. Their English is quite sufficient. After five months I am willing to put up with another number change abandoning by Lingo.

I had Lingo for over a year. Used them because they were the only VOIP provider in my area code. Once another provider showed up, I switched. First, the call quality from day one was abysmal. No amount of effort improved that. After a few months, if anyone called us on the Lingo, we'd just call them back on our cell phones, so we could have a conversation. Then, for several months the service didn't work at all. We'd call customer service for help, and they'd always tell us to reboot and then to try another phone. I could se once or twice trying that, but to keep making me do the same thing was a huge waste of time. After months and countless hours on the phone with incompetent CSRs, we finally figured out that the problem was with a faulty power cord. Simple problem, should've been identified much sooner. No refund for our months with no service. Then, when we transferred our number to Vonage, Lingo tried to continue charging us for service. Even though our phone number had already been transferred. One Lingo CSR even told me the charges would be removed, and then they were not. I eventually disputed the charges through the credit card company. The credit card company ruled in our favor, refunding the money. THEN, I got a letter from Lingo saying they are reporting me to a collection agency to collect their bogus charges. They want to charge me for phone service for a period of time when I had no PHONE NUMBER with them. And now they're attacking my credit rating. FINALLY, a guy calls me and asks me why I have his phone #. I transferred my old number to Vonage, and now Lingo is trying to give that number to someone else. I am just hoping that Lingo doesn't have the power to screw up my phone, since I am a current and happy paying Vonage customer. AND, BTW, since switching to Vonage the call quality has been crystal clear. No problems there.

Mixed bag of experience with Lingo. Initially moved from Land Line over to VOIP when I had a cable modem. This was perhaps 3-4 years ago. Initially had a lot of problems--couldn't receive calls, had to unplug router every so often, couldn't make calls, etc. Eventually Lingo got their act together and things worked really well. However, phone quality isn't their strong point. Sometimes it is good, sometimes calling Philippines it is quite bad (echo/feedback/dropped calls). Just recently we called to get us set up for current rates (from 17 cents to 12.9 cents) and a few days after that we have no longer been able to call Philippines. New rate, no way to call internationally. (BTW, the 4-5 cents savings is 5-8$ a month savings for us). All calls are routed to India for service. Sometimes they have been able to solve things but recently, over the last week, they haven't been able to open the lines internationally--forcing us to use calling cards. We'll likely switch within the week to something like Phone Power if our problem isn't solved. We call Canada and LD in the US all the time with no problems. So, for you it maybe a good service (no international calls) but the international rates are almost the best in the industry....tradeoff is quality and lack of service.

Unbelievable service! We have had lingo since 2004. Not one problem. Never had to reboot the box. Never had to call Customer Service. The price is amazing! Totally satisfied with Lingo. And I would recommend to anyone.

Do NOT use this phone service. They force you to cancel verbally with no email confirmation follow up. I cancelled the service last year and am still fighting them to realize they made a mistake in their records. They have a note saying I did call the cancellation department, but no note was made that I actually cancelled the account. I also proved to them via a print out from ATT that my number was ported from them on the same day I cancelled with them. Still not enough proof of cancellation. Now I'm getting harassed by a slime ball debt collector who says my credit will be ruined. Guess I'll be going to court on this one. Don't use Lingo at all. The cheap price does not make it worth the hassle.

Sound quality is very poor. No help in calling technical support (ALL EAST INDIANS)!!! I initially called for poor call quality and currently I have no phone service!!! I was on my cell phone with the "tech support" last evening for 4 hours and the problem got worst from poor quality to no phone service. I am currently looking for another VoIP service, hopefully ENGLISH speaking! Lingo sucks!

As long as everything works.... lingo is a good value.... but if you EVER have a real problem and have to rely on customer service.... you might as well just walk away. The 'all Indian' force is absolutely incapable of doing anything, wastes tons of your time with useless re-iterations of what you just told them, promises resolutions within 24-48 hours, which after 24-48 are still there, upon which they promise you a resolution within 24-48 hours... you get the picture... long story short my 24-48 hour window is now 3 weeks old.....
