Lingo Rocks !!!! I've been using Lingo since Summer of 2004 and never had any major problems other than few minor ones that I don't even count against them.

The first problem we had with this company was with a delayed reaction so you would have to wait for the person to finish talking for a few second before you could reply. Technical support said it was our problem. This was frustrating but we could deal with it. We switched to Lingo because we call India and the rates are good but every time we would call after 10minutes the line would cut off. Technical support also said this was our problem, now they are saying it is because India is a busy place to call. The latest problem we are having is billing for service not requested. It is a nightmare to call their customer service. Save yourself time energy and money and order a different VolP provider.

My failed attempt to port a number to Lingo has soured me on this company forever. I filled out the LOA (letter of Authorization) no less than 4 times. The customer support personnel are not in direct contact with the number porting people. I made repeated phone calls to support to find out status. Broken promises to call back when they find out information. Note that this all started in march of 2007, well before the SunRocket debacle, so that is no excuse. Although the price is competitive, its features are inferior compared to my new VOIP provider Viatalk. There incoming call log has no caller id information. And is always displayed in GMT. Viatalk's custom call routing leaves Lingo in the dust. Pile on Viatalk's whitelists and its integration with Do Not Disturb (Viatalk lets you define a list of numbers that can get through when do not disturb is on) and Lingo looks weak and inferior.

97% of the time I have clear, excellent audio quality. Rarely I will experience some distortion or echo but it never lasts throughout the entire call. For the most part Lingo is just the same as having the land line when it comes to the quality of the calls and the use of the features. I have experienced an issue where my IP address had changed causing my Internet speed to drop almost off the map. After calling Charter and resetting the modem (with Lingo disconnected) I was back to 5MB but the IP address changed once I re-connected the Lingo adapter, but so far it hasn't altered my connection speed. The tech support at Lingo told me that Lingo will "not" change the IP address but something sure did and has to be the Lingo adapter. As long as my speed stays at 5MB I don't care what the IP address is but it could be a problem in the future. I have saved a ton o' money by using Lingo, Verizon was charging me close to $100 for unlimited long distance, basic phone charges and feature charges (caller ID, voicemail, etc) so the $25 a month is keeping me from living in a van down by the river. I highly recommend Lingo and the only thing that would make it better would be to hire tech support people with a better command of the English language.

After about 3 years of LINGO, we recently ended our service. We initially signed up for a plan which allowed unlimited calls to the USA, Canada & Mexico, for a flat fee of about $38. We make a lot of calls to Mexico, so this was a great plan for us. At some point they raised the fee to somewhere between $50 & $60, which we could live with. But then about a month ago, we got an email saying that, beginning THE NEXT DAY, they would start charging us by the minute for Mexico calls, in addition to the flat fee. Most of the calls we were making were now costing $.12/minute, plus the $50-60/month fee. We terminated our service with LINGO a couple of days ago. They gave us a rebate of $20 after a lot of haggling, which didn't make up for all the extra charges incurred while we searched for another VOIP service. A few days ago we started service with Inphonex, which provides unlimited calls to Mexico for around $35/month. The jury is still out on them.

I've had lingo for over 3 years. Before Lingo, I was using my cellphone exclusively. I needed a low cost option for working from home. When I first got lingo, some 877 toll free numbers would not go through. Customer Service was very friendly, was aware of the bug, and it got corrected quickly. To tell the truth, I wasn't happy for the first year, but I finally had my cable provider replace the ancient coax with new and have not had a problem since. The only time I have trouble is when I am using the phone and downloading/uploading large files at the same time. I can probably fix this by prioritizing packets on my router or by putting the adapter in front of the router, but it really isn't a recurring problem. Also, I disconnected my home wiring from the PSTN and plugged my lingo adapter into a home outlet. It now it works fine and powers 4 existing home outlets. It even supports a circa 1970 rotary phone!

its been 2 months since I received their instrument. After 2 months of calling the customer support, they finally agree that the device that was delivered is bad and would need a replacement ..... A new device going bad .. that's new to me.

I had Lingo for two months and the quality of the phone audio was much worse that a bad cell connection. Getting them on the phone was only possible from another number and they insisted I call back on the unusable Lingo phone, which did not work! The service reps are all in India and it took me over an hour to get them to turn off my service. Then, every month I received another bill and I would call the rep in India who knew nothing about anything, and told me that my phone was still working. The charges were taken from my credit card account and so I discussed the situation with them and they stopped Lingo from stealing even more money from me through that account. Now I get letters from their collection agency and phone calls from them on my cell phone threatening to "Ruin my credit rating" if I don't pay my bills for their abysmal non working phone. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my 57 years. I believe their behavior is criminal. Do not use this company!
