I signed up with the conditions that I must be able to use my current business phone number, which they said they could and I also wanted to try the service out without obligation to see if it works well. They said that was fine. I tried the service and it sounded fine so I called and said I liked it and wanted them to activate my office phone number with the VoIP service. They said they would but it never happened. After many contacts it turns out my office phone cannot be converted to VoIP because the number is owned by AT&T. Lingo's managers never called me back to tell me this, I found out from another supplier of VoIP services. To make a long, long story short Lingo emailed me a letter telling me the starting in October anyone who canceled there service would be subject to a $100 fee if cancelled in the first 24 months. Note that they sent this notice in October. Thou I had told them before on the phone to cancel my service more than once I sent them an email right away saying cancel my service. Lingo's reply was to send me to collections. To date they have never delivered what I was promised and two years later I still receive threatening letters from their Attorney. My advise is "Don't trust the sales people at Lingo" and "Don't expect any level of service when you have a complaint"

If holding the phone for 30 minutes or longer waiting for the assistance of a customer service rep. appeals to you, then by all means sign up for Lingo. And by the way, lingo's service is so bad that you might as well count on spending several hours a month attempting to reach someone at customer service. And finally when you've had all you can take, and decide to cancel the service, forget about it, you definitely won't get anyone to answer the phone, Just save yourself some frustration, and call your charge card issuer and stop payment on your Lingo account. That's when you will finally hear from Lingo!

When I first got Lingo service, almost 7 years ago, the customer services was excellent. Now, it is absoluting the worst. All of the customer service and techs appear to be in the Phillipines and India. While they may speak English their English skills are not American English and they are almost impossible to understand. Furthermore - they are unable to perform even the most simple tasks and REFUSE to let you speak with anyone else. I used to always recommend this service, after this last go round not only will I not recomment them anymore, I am seriously considering cancelling service with LINGO and going with another provider. It is a pity. This used to be an excellent service and company.

I admit the phone quality is OK and pretty much forgot I had an IP phone. However, the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. The primarly use a service out of India and the are unwilling to help you i any way. Only way I could even get them to cancel my service was to write letters to primus communications, their parent company, to get the service canceled. BTW, they change the terms of your contract anytime they want, like adding a 199.00 disconnect fee if you cancel after a year when you only signed up for a year. Again, to bad because the phone service isn't to bad.

This company will offer you some nice rates and later on they will start charging you some unkown fees. I would strongly not recommend this service.

Lingo is nothing but a "Bait and Switch" company, they fraudulently charge you a disconnect fee, if you dispute it it simply goes to collection! I recommend everyone to stay as far away from this company as possibly.

Customer service is bad. They don't explain terms and conditions properly. Also, once number is ported out, they still continue billing you. BEWARE.

First month was OK. As soon as I signed up for one year ( with $99 early termination fee) contract, started bad service. Within one week they suspend my service, because of high usages. Even I had unlimited deal. Called about twenty times, mailed dozens, no reply. Lingo is the worse on voip business.

Am surprised to see so many negative reviews; in the beginning I had Sun Rocket which ultimately went to USA Comm/ Teleblend with all the features equipment etc from the old SunRocket. I have continued with this same co. since that change over in summer 2007. Good connections, Excellent call clarity, Voice Mail works well. Speed dialing. Call Logs are limited to 10 in the listing, but that is minor. I am pleased with this one, and also enjoy PHONE POWER with the same features and a larger call log listing.

No one should sign up with Lingo. Lingo has no knowledge of what customer is or should be. sign up with Lingo is easy, but cancellation is a nightmare. During the terrible earthquake in Haiti, I have placed some calls to Haiti on behalf of family members and friends that went unanswered and Lingo decided to charge close to one hundred dollars for those calls. Even after I spent more than three years with that company, they threatened to charge my credit card an excessive amount for the hardware. The bottom line is this "don't sign up with Lingo" - there are lot more choices out there.
