I say "No" if you are going to use it exclusively as your Home Phone. I have had MagicJack for several years but recently cancelled Home Phone service making MagicJack sole service. I updated my MAC computer and found MagicJack NOT COMPATIBLE! Have called chat line (only support) five times and they are aware of problem, however, management does NOT keep "support representatives" informed of progress. So if you get a critical problem with your service you cannot depend on "Support" for results. Management did NOT put out or has since made any briefing to their customer data base of the problem and how they are attempting its resolution. This is considered a critical fallacy in Management!

I renewed my contract for a year and suddenly my MagicJack stopped working. The customer service is so bad I was never able to get enough help to get it working again. I gave up and am going with another provider.

Its a great product but if you want to cancel service, forget it. There is no one to talk with. I had to report them to the BBB and contact my bank so I would no longer be paying them.

Was a breeze to set up and the price versus Vonage is no comparison. Do not understand why everyone has not dropped Vonage and regular landlines for this. Vonage is $10 to $20 per month and Magicjack is $20 per year! No brainer to me.

Device works some times and not other times. When you connect Magicjack to a computer, the device doesn't connect properly and therefore will not work.

I have been using MagicJack for more than 5 years with minimal issues! It's easy to use and there can be some quality problems, but anyone using VoIP is having same issues.

MagicJack charges $33 dollars to transfer the number to another carrier and $16 for a warranty replacement. Getting a refund is extremely difficult. They last less than two years. While it works it's ok. Have a problem then forget it.
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
Jim (February 17th 2016) : I had a similar problem, but called the chat line and they sent a link to my email to fix the problem. When I first got the device I had Vista. As I upgraded my OS I had to run the fix. I now have Windows 10 and I also updated my device to the new one that doesn't need a computer, just Internet connection, and I just love it. I use it as my main line, however it will only handle 3 phones to be connected, otherwise it will not ring on incoming calls.

I've been using Magicjack since 2007 and it has been great, although sometimes there is a little static or dropping of the signal. Best of all is the tremendous savings. I have cancelled my other phone service.

I have had MagicJack for about 4 years. From time to time, at first, I would call certain numbers and it would not ring through. That problem has been solved. However, this past month, when I paid my subscription, the next day the phone would not work. When I contacted them at first, the customer service person said she could send me a new device instead of transferring me to Technical Support. Thinking it would be faster to fix the problem, I asked to be transferred to a support person. I had to go through 3 people and it took 2 hours to get the problem fixed (no ring through on the receiving end). That fix lasted 2 days, and now, I have no ring tone on my end. After spending an hour and going through 2 tech's last night, I gave up and got in touch with them this morning to get the replacement sent to me. However, now they want another $25 to send me a replacement device, after I was told they would send one for the re-up price that I have already paid. Also, their support people must be in India or somewhere overseas, because their English is terrible! Do not buy!
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
Mike (June 28th 2015) : The Magicjack device is not really something you can "fix". It is a simple device meant to be a use and toss type thing. That is also why it is so cheap. There are no REAL technicians at Magicjack since it is a throw away type device. If you get a faulty device, they SHOULD replace it for free but everyone I talk to says they charge to send another. But that charge is still a LOT cheaper than a year of service with anyone else. I have been using Magicjack since the beginning and have had no issues since I never have to use customer service chat. My device did quit on me once but it turned out to be the power brick which I got from Amazon cheaper than from them.

I bought Magicjack from Best Buy several years ago to control a remote thermostat in a vacation home. It has worked great for many years in this application but has had trouble with voice but OK because we use our cell phones. This last year our contract was up so I called to renew and was routed to India (I think) where the representative told me Magicjack had terrible security and I had to purchase a $100 security contract for 5 years. I was in a hurry and renewed for 5 years with the extra $100 for security. Next day I called them back and no one knew anything about purchasing extra security. A separate $100 charge appeared on my credit card (not Magicjack). So I called Visa and they said I should cancel my card with associated hassle. I contacted the Magicjack supervisor about this but never heard back.
