I've had the service more than 3 years and generally been quite pleased. But yesterday I tried to call the local newspaper office and was told I had to purchase prepaid minutes because the call terminated to "a conference line or platform." Same thing this morning trying to call the local auto dealer. Both these businesses have multi-line systems (PBX) just like most businesses. Looks like I will not be able to call most businesses without buying prepaid minutes, which I will not do. This is a change from the initial service also. Because of this I would NEVER recommend this service and will not renew my service again. I will find an alternative that works!

For those of you that sit here saying "It must be the user" What ever! If the service is so great why aren't some of you still useing it? I paid to port my number a supposed 1 time fee to find out "Even thought it is stated nowhere" When I went to renew after the first year not only did I have to pay $104.00 for a 5 year plan but also another 1 time fee of 19.99 + a $10.00 Port fee again! to keep my same number I already paid to port to MJ Plus Service. Now It's called a premium service even though it's not listed in their premium service page. When I paid the 5 year plan price there was also no mention of this Port Fee to be paid again I only found out because my phone stopped working after I paid them for 5 more years. The dropped calls, crappy online customer service where everyone is a supervisor but nobody can help you. They type from a script they all seem to have identical answers word for word. Don't waste your money on this junk product they say what ever it takes to get your money then blow you off when you need them. If you don't mind sitting on your computer for up to 3 to 4 hours getting nowhere, and being decieved then this is the product for you. I personaly am sending to mine and their Attorney Generals Office as well the BBB copies of chats of their deception I kept copys of all the chats I'm sure they weren't counting on that! Buyer Beware with MagicJack products!!! Oh ya almost forgot the 30 day money back no questions asked guarentee lmao they send it in to decide if you qualify??? now you tell me what's that???

I have experienced dropped calls since I had the service but as it was just a back up phone I didn't worry too much. Then I totally lost my service. I went online and they sent me a new part which they said would solve the problem. It didn't. I then spent 3 hours on their chat service(you can't talk via phone) trying to get my service restored.I repeatedly told them I have a disability and constantly trying to send me "fixes" was not working. They said they would transfer me to someone who would remote in to my computer and fix the problem. I waited about 1.5 hours and finally went back online only to have them try to do the same "fixes" again and finally tell me no one was available to remote into my computer. Disgusted. Cancelled my "service".Didn't even receive an apology.

To start off...MJ will definitely save you money. I bought the MJ Plus in order to keep my land-line number. Overall I am satisfied with the service, except for periodic glutches. i.e.: Dropping calls once and a while, not being able to reach a couple of long distance numbers, annoying pop-up screen on my PC. If you can overlook these small inconveniences, it is quite a $$$ savings! Their on-line Customer Service seems to be improving also.

Excellent cheap second phone. Any problem with mine is solved by disconnecting and re-connect. It loads it's self in less than 30 seconds. If used on a 2nd computer, it takes about 45 seconds to load it's self and you are ready to talk. You also always have your address phone numbers available on it.

Absolutely the best phone service I have ever had in the last 65 years. Low cost, available, knowledgeable live chat and clear instructions. he one time I had difficulty (at the very beginning of my relationship with MJ) I was able to connect with one of the original inventors by email. H immediately understood my problem, explained clearly what to do and I was able to solve my problem. I highly recommend this service--couldn't be more satisfied.

Trying to get a live person to deal with problems even with set-up was a disaster. As a senior it is difficult to be e-savy so it has taken me more time than usual to try and voice my few not-so-satisfactory features.....like reception being rather poor. The price is right but I am surprised that when I eventually managed to get through to someone (by email) recommendation is that I consider trying another provider ....You would think they would address my concerns....since I did not ask for much. One thing I asked for is that I don't hear that by-now-tiring voice saying "in order to complete your call dial your area code........etc.". Well that continual interruption when trying to make a call became tooooooo annoying!!!!

For simple land line you can't beat it. I have it connected to my router and four extension phones. It has good sound quality and works great with wireless or basic phone. With my current broadband service it works perfect. I tried one a few years ago with DSL and it was not usable. Had crosstalk and bad echo. I suspect Internet connection may determine your level of satisfaction. For the price and money back guarantee. I can think of no reason to at least give it a try.

Online ordering is the only option other than a retail store, there is no person to call and have your questions answered. The ordering process is rigid and cold, and it leaves you all alone with any issues you may encounter. There is no phone number to order or call for support. Agents can be reached through chat only, but they are not allowed to call or to E-mail you. If you are unhappy with what the first agent can do, they put you through to a top 10% voted agent. (I wonder if they even have 10 agents, given their cheap attitude when it comes to customer service. There is no manager to escalate an issue to. The top agents do not follow up on issues raised to their superiors, because they are not allowed to contact you in any way. Superiors are too busy counting their profits to even bother send a reply to you. Very rigid company, and neglectful to its customers. I first got a defective Magic Jack device, it was kicking out a lot, people could not hear me well on the phone, kept telling me I had a bad connection. The company did not replace the device without another payment from me, and refused to reapply the time I lost due to not having a device. I had paid for a 5 year plan. My advice, do not sign up for a 5 year plan until you see the device working well. Then I upgraded to a MagicJack Plus, only to discover that I could not use the same plan. So I ended up with two plans, one of which is still losing the paid time, as they never had their defective device replaced. I spent several hours on chats with them, numerous times. and two years later issues are still unresolved. The MJ+ works ok, seems to be a good device, but God forbid you get a defective unit, you are screwed and left to die. No assumed responsibility for their bad device, no care for customers. I am sure if we had a face to face conversation, they would look for dollar signs in my eyes before even letting me say a word. I am so disgusted with this money driven customer neglectful company, and I don't want anyone else to go through my experience. So I decided to let everyone know what they are getting into. when they go for a MajicJack.

We're coming up on start of 3rd year on a original MagicJack. We set it up with a Colorado 303 number and then took it to Mexico City to leave with a family member. As long as their computer is on, we've never had any problem with the MagicJack and call quality is excellent.
