If you don't mind echo's, calls that dont come through, voice mails that are received either days later or never, use outages and long waits for customer service in the middle of the week.....this service is for you! If any of those things are at all important, steer clear. If you agree to a termed contract, of course they charge you an early term fee of $99 to cancel...not worth it when you are only paying $18 per month. I am cancelling one of my lines where I paid one year to get the second for free. The other line, I am stuck with as it is payable each month until my contract ends. Make sure you cancel before the term is up so the month to month contract doesn't automatically get renewed. Be certain to document all of you tech conversations as PP doesn't seem to log all of the calls. If it wasn't for the ability to print your chats, I wouldn't have had proof of a few conversations. Unfortunately, the one I had today only printed with my name and the customer service rep. Long story short....not worth the hassle.

I would have recommended them. I have been on their system for a year now and it has been fine. Just recently, they cut their customer services hours so there is little evening time to get help. The system drops quite often and if you can't get technical help either online or by phone, you have no phone system. My wife and I both work and contacting them in the evening is our only way. This is a big step backwards. Comcast is available 24/7. BAD NEWS

I' had Vonage for nearly a year, $35 a month was too much for me, so I spent a few days researching and reading reviews, and kept on coming back to phonepower - probably what clinched it for me was there upfront honesty about what the 'taxes and fees and surcharges' would be, which came to barely over $3, so the $14.95 unlimited small business and residential came out right around $19.00. Before I signed up, I first called them to see how easy, or difficult, it would be to get to a live person, it was no problem, and I spoke to a young lady in California who spoke very articulately and had a pleasant attitude. So far, so good. I signed up on the website, easy to navigate, very straightforward. This was a Tuesday or Wednesday, and my Grandstream ATA was estimated to arrive the following Monday, and service was projected to be activated by that time as well. To my surprise, the device arrived on a Friday, but I waited until Saturday morning to try it. I logged into the website, and I appeared to be activated, I even called my new number and left a test message. To my most pleasant surprise, the instructions for the Granstreatm HT502 ATA said to plug it in to an available LAN on my router. I went through all kinds of aggravation with the Vonage device which would only function if it was first in line behind my DSL modem - which meant I was constantly having to fiddle with DMZ and port forwarding to use SSH, run a BBS, P2P clients, and other stuff, so I was elated with the idea of being able to simply plug this into an availalbe LAN on my router. After a few minutes, I had a dial tone, but would always get a fast busy signal when I dialed a number. Oh well, I thought, let's hook it up first in line, for now at least, and it did the same thing. So, I called customer service. I was probably on hold, listening to music for maybe 7 or 8 minutes when I got a customer service tech online. Again, in California, this was a guy, and he was very courteous as well. Since I'm sort of a techy myself, it didn't take long to figure out my IP address so he could remotely do his thing. It took him a few minutes to upgrade the firmware in my ATA, and reboot it. He put me on hold, and then called me on the new number, and I was good to go. A few minutes later, I went ahead and moved the device over to an availalbe LAN on my router, and within 5 minutes I was online, and up and running. I put on my headset and placed a few calls to some friends. Immediately I was pleasantly surprised, and astounded at how good the quality was. It's actually as clear, or better, than my landline. No drops or gaps in conversation. Very clear on both ends. With vonage, no matter how I set it, it lopped off the high frequencies in the audio - it was akin to listening to your stereo with the treble control all the way down. Not only that, but several times a day the Vonage ATA would reboot itself for no apparent reason, I'd also have 20 or 30 second gaps in conversation where the other person heard nothing but silence. Needless to say, so far I am a very happy camper with phonepower so far. I don't think they have as many 'features' as Vonage, but they have more of features I can actually use. I haven't hooked up my second 'cloned' line - which really sounds like another way of saying a 'rollover line', but I think that really adds a lot of value. For $20 a month, you essentially get two phone lines and unlimited local / long distance and other extras, and there is no way any local phone company can offer that on a landline. So far, it looks like phonepower.com is a winner!!!!!!!

Easy set up and low price = What I was looking for. My number transferred to them without issue and I had no downtime between the switch. Lots of cool features like the fax catcher for incoming faxes and simultaneous ring so that I can ring my cell and home phone at the same time. The account page is easy to navigate so I have to say I'm happy all around!

This service provider needs to hire and new support staff manager and hire like 10 to 20 more techs to answer calls. The last time I was waiting for tech support I was on hold for like 45 + mins. Wow! I even tried to chat, email, voice mail and I even faxed them. Wow, I wish I would have know this I probably would have not ordered this service after all. Oh well, I guess I'm stuck with marginal customer service for the next 2 years.

Easy setup, great sound quality, tons of features. Unfortunately, call hold times to get to speak to customer service or tech support have become prohibitive. Half hour to an hour PLUS any time any day of the week, NOT GOOD!!! On 2 occasions over the past 2? years I've been a Phonepower subscriber, my voice mails and faxes mysteriously disappeared from my online account info. Went through hours of phone calls to find out what the heck happened. Still no resolution on the 2nd go around as I write this and I'm getting VERY FRUSTRATED. One nice feature they offer is the ability to have a blocked call list and have those calls go to voice mail or a busy signal. Handy for stopping annoying collection agency calls and the like DEAD in their tracks. Although you can have up to 50 numbers on that list, there's no indication on the site that there's a 50 number limit. The system allows you to enter more than 50 numbers with NO WARNING INDICATION that you've gone above the 50 number limit and numbers you enter beyond 50 limit will still get through. This is something I've been complaining about for the last 2 years. Despite the fact that whomever I talk to in tech support agrees this is a flaw in the design of the Phonepower website and they'll alert the web masters, but after all this time, THEY'VE STILL DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT! The insane call hold times are now the main reason I hesitate to recommend Phonepower. However, as they've grown, they have not added customer service reps to handle the increase in subscribers, and like most businesses, are going all out to cut costs, AT THE CUSTOMER'S EXPENSE. Bottom Line: A service that started off great but now has all the signs of going downhill, FAST.

Two thing really annoy me with PhonePower If you have more than 5 logins (all correct ones) from the same IP address your account gets blocked and the only way to reset this seems to be to contact customer service. and that's where the second issue comes to life. To get in touch with customer service you'd think the easy way would be the online chat they offer, you log on, click chat, wait 2 or 3 hours in queue and get dropped when you are next in line. Thank god for cell-phones because minimum time I have spent on a problem like this has been 6 hours, maximum more than a day. My question is "what the heck is wrong with a reboot of the router and/or phone device more than 5 times in 6 hours? from the same ip? with the correct login from the device?" !#@!#@@@ ..... It's NUTS!

After having to seek refuge from a dying VOIP company (sunrocket) in the past and the next provider who was still a little too pricey for my taste (Vonage) I decided to try Phone Power. They've been around for a few years and have acquired a few other smaller companies in the last couple years. I feel a lot better about their stability knowing that. The quality was as good, if not better, than my previous provider. Signing up was easy and they?ve been helpful with any questions I?ve had.

This is the worst cumstomer service I have ever received. I cant get my phones to work on no one at phone power can either. They said they need to send me a new box after four days of trying to get it to work. I need a new box but they want me to pay to send it to me over night. No I will be out of phones for another three or four days. I do not recomend Phone Power and would be careful with any Voice over IP.

Knowledgeable and friendly customer support seems to be a rarity these days, but everyone I've talked to so far there meets both those qualifications. I set up the Grandstream behind my router and was up and running. I'm liking the call quality. No echos or static that were some of the issues I had with my previous provider. No annoying set up fees either. Just paid the one time shipping for the adapter and use it for free. From then on its just the low monthly bill. Can't get much better for phone service in my opinion.
