I used Vonage for a couple of years, then switched to Phonepower about 2 years ago to get the free second line, unlimited calls, and call blocking (not offered with Vonage). I have the second line going into the phone wiring in the house so that I can plug in a desk phone with ear piece and handset lifter in my home office. The quality of calls on the desk phone is pretty scratchy most of the time. Phonepower blames my phone (a digital Uniden desk phone). My second line is a wireless with three extra handsets. The quality on them can be scratchy also. I do like that if the service goes down, it redirects to my cell phone. I have my printer/fax plugged in the house phone wiring, and it works just fine (out only/I've never received). Overall, the service is OK, but I wish the sound quality was better. I've never used the portable "phone" that came with the system. I have to dial into my main office voice mail from home (using Phonepower) and enter special characters *ext number, then passcode, then 7 to play messages. Many, many times I have to try over and over an over to enter these codes, and it seems that they are not being sent correctly, so the voice mail system does not recognize the tones and hangs up on me or wants to send me to the system operator. I often give up and dial in from my cell phone instead. This is the most frustrating thing ever with Phonepower.

I no longer have the service. I cancelled before even the time ended. The portable USB unit they sold me never worked right. The charge me a hefty Tax fee for an allegedly free 2nd year of service. The expect you to ship equipment back at your own expense. There were not many service outages, but if there was...you would have a heck of a time getting a hold of someone.

I read great reviews about Phone Power, and had no problems for the first year. Then I found it started disconnecting and needed to be reset, when my DSL connection was fine. This became a problem when other family members could not rely on it. Eventually I switched back to regular landline service.

Phone power is a horrible VIOP service provider. There are delays in the system which cause the callers to think that the system has hung up on the call. In appropriate music and there support staff is unable to resolve the issues. We have had problems with their service for 2 months and some problems have still not been resolved.

I truly have nothing but great things to say about phonepower. I am really impressed by the clarity of sound and that I can use whether computer is on or off. It is truly like having a landline without the associated costs!! If you are looking for an overall quality VoIP service provider, I encourage you to give phonepower serious thought. From Ontario, Canada.

Since I haven't had other VOIP services, I can't compare with those, but as far as Century Link goes, our former landline service, there is no comparison. Cost runs around $10 a month if you pay for a year and get the next year free. My parents have Suddenlink VOIP service and they can't call Canada, have no low cost or free services to Europe, VoiceMail does not pick up during another conversation, etc. And they pay $25 a month.

Excellent provider for 5000 minutes for Pakistan calls or any where else while those days all other providers including comwave became two costly due to the taxes that Pakistan made. I needed a phone service for long distance for unlimited because I love my parents so much and call them every day. just the need to be improved is the local call quality. But I know all oip srevices have some quality problems for local calls. The long distance quality was very fine just needs local calls to be better. Thanks Phone Power!

I have had continuous service for two years, with no problems. As with any modem, it has to be rebooted now and then, but not often. The sound quality is perfect. I use it internationally in North America, so that I always have my home phone with me wherever I go. The one thing I would like to see from Phone Power is a travel system compatible with the mac platform.
