TIME WARNER REVIEW: We switched to TW, roadrunner after finding out our previous ISP added unauthorized charges to our bill. This is the first time I have been in an area with only two ISP choices, gotta say it's pretty awful. TimeWarner was easy to sign on with and came out withing 5 days, great tech, good work. Now on to the bad. The service is terribly intermittent, I play online video games and can only pick up a solid connection @2or3 AM. They are throttling down the speed badly here in daytime/evening hours, or aren't checking maintenance of their system. There is over 50% packet loss when I run ping tests, and that's with local servers... you don't want to know about distant servers. The Customer Service is, in a word, non-existent. After trying unsuccessfully to resolve the issues with them i went ahead and improved router/modem settings and dropped their dns, first for the google, then the free verizon, those were both improvements in download speed but upload still stinks. Bottom line: No Customer Support, useable speeds are around old dial-up speeds. Not a good use of your money. i would not recommend TimeWarner to anyone.

CHARTER REVIEW: Their agents always insist the problem is with Microsoft, or some hardware issue. After spending more than an hour trying to resolve an email issue, being disconnected, being told to call Microsoft, a supervisor finally admitted that they had updated the servers and it prevented receiving emails if more than one device was connected. Why don't they just man up, admit they goofed, and would fix it as soon as possible instead of driving their customers crazy? If it wasn't so hard to change providers, I'd do it in a New York minute.

TIME WARNER REVIEW: For YEARS when the outside temperature climbs above 93 degrees F, this system craps out with intermittent throughput on its broadband service. I have complained for YEARS but TW is apparently about their profits and couldn't care less about providing the service they are supposed to provide. I am damn tired of having my high-speed service lapse in and out merely because of the load on the area electrical grid. It merely tells me that TW wants profits and is failing to build out their infrastructure.

TIME WARNER REVIEW: Ordering was ok and straight forward. Sounded great - tech would be out and set me up - get access to the internet, set up my free email accounts and security as well as set up the free wireless router. Day of install - tech was late, dressed in jeans, had a pickup truck and was totally unprofessional. He did not have the wireless router, (or he kept it personally) did not know how to set up email, did not know how to install the anti-virus, he made me sign something on his cell phone but I had no copy, he said all the paperwork and the paper I signed would be sent to me from Time Warner - it's been 3 weeks now - still no paperwork, still no email, once he left, I could not get on the internet. required calls to them - unable to help - called a friend out of town that helped me get in. The entire experience has been extremely frustrating! Now they tell me I have to pay a monthly fee for wireless (although the original promotion said I would get a 'free' wireless router. Email - I was out of town when I called them and they said I need the MAC address of our modem before they can set up my email. I have never been treated so poorly and unprofessionally. Deffinitely not recommended. I am very patient and have tried to work through the issues, and be as forgiving and gracious ... but this is close to a ridiculous circus.

CHARTER REVIEW: I was promised $300 in gift cards when I started the service and bundled phone, internet and TV. I have gotten excuses, but no gift cards to date. I am so angry, I will probably cancel the service in a month or so, because I did not get the gift cards as promised.

TIME WARNER REVIEW: I just received my letter that my rate would be in increasing from 19.95 to 24.95 in less then a month from now. They also suggested in that letter that I call Time Warner to bundle with them. That sounds like a good idea then I can be charged one big price for all three services over time. Now there's a plan. I was very happy with the service for 19.95 a month and an 1.00 increase now and then I can justify but 5.00!!! I dropped Time Warner's cable because the programming is limited for the money and the rate was increasing. I have direct TV now and like programming better although their rates go up quite often too. It seems the consumer is getting squeezed at every turn I for one will not go down without a fight.

CHARTER REVIEW: Charter will tell you the only up front fees you have is $60.00 when they come out and hook up your cable and internet, and $30.00 when they hook up your phone. I asked about other fees, I was told: No Installation Fees, or other charges. I received my first bill of $196.30. When I called they where not very helpful with the situation. They said I had a installation fee included. They also said I had to pay 2 months in advance. They still did not have my telephone changed, and told me that the telephone was not included in this bill. My monthly bill was only suppose to be $127.00 to begin with. Someone did finally apologize for me not being told upfront, but they always charge a fee; therefore I still owed it.. I changed my service immediately.
