I had Packet 8 and BBTELSYS. Packet 8 had good CS but had lousy voice quality. BBTELSYS voice quality 80% of the time broke up, and had the worst customer service ever. Viatalk has great voice quality and good CS. Only weakness is they don't have many of the whistles and bells the others have.  I would highly recommend this company.

The determining factor between good value or super value was if your service could be used as a stand alone service----reliability being the focus factor.  Of course reliability of your service is for a good part in the evaluation of the cable company's performance. Right now it looks like I can use Via Talk as a stand alone phone service making it the bargain of the decade.

The point in having this service is the savings besides the lots of convenient features you can't get with the conventional phone service such as keeping your same phone number wherever you move, plus others. I'm very happy with this Viatalk service. I recommend it highly.

This service is a lot better than Nasty Packet8. They are really helpful and they comply with the FCC ruling and offer E-911 to most consumers through Level 3 Communications. They have lots of great features also, you can fax great because they use the G.711U Codec.

I have been using ViaTalk for over a month now. I was pretty impressed with the ease of installation and the call quality. Then in the first week they had 2 big outages and I could not reach their support department over the phone. I had to open up a ticket via the web and it took 24 hours before I heard back from a tech support each time. It's been 2 weeks since those outages and all is well. I'm going to hang in there and give them a chance. Just my 2 cents.
