My Vongae experience has been excellent! Only issue we had is that there was an incompatibility with the old alarm system we had in our house provided by Brinks. We upgraded this home alarm system and there are no issues anymore. Customer service is very impressive. I have had to call a couple of times for them to re-configure things and they called me back later to make sure things were o.k. I like Vonage so much I signed up for an entire year and saved substantial money off of my plan. A great value! Tony

I should have listened to what I read, but I decided to gamble with Vonage anywhere. Boy, was that a HUGE mistake! Vonage is by far the WORST telephone service you can imagine. From the very first day I had issues with call quality. Everybody I called complained that the sound was choppy and unclear. I called Vonage literally dozens of times and spent literally hours on the phone with those people. Their customer service and technical support people are totally unknowledgeable. What's more, I could barely understand what they were saying, as they were not located in the USA. Each time I called I had to repeat their procedures over and over again in order to try to solve the problem. Even their advanced tech support team had no clue what they were doing. As a result, my home phone was completely unusable for the months I suffered through the service. Of course, trying to cancel the service was just as difficult as trying to get it to work. When I originally joined Vonage, I decided to port my existing number, which I had for about 10 years, into the service. I was not willing to give up my number, so if I simply stopped paying for the Vonage service, then I would have lost my phone number. I had to devise a plan to port my number to another service, and have my Vonage number changed. After I was sure that my phone number was safely ported to another company, I was able to stop paying on my Vonage account. The only way for them to stop charging me (I stupidly committed to one or two years of service) was to report my credit card lost or stolen. On the bright side, I switched to VoIP Your Life, and I have not had one single problem ever since. My advice to anyone thinking of Vonage---DON'T DO IT!! You will be as sorry as I was! I am only glad that I was able to escape from Vonage with my old telephone number. Vonage is not like a regular telephone service, so there are none of the same FCC regulations and protections in affect like the phone company. This how they are able to provide the world's worst service and get away with it. Do yourself the biggest favor in the world...AVOID VONAGE! You would have better luck sending up smoke signals than using Vonage!!!

I have just signed up for Vonage today and already had the taste of their worst Customer Service. I work for UBS and we had 20% discount on monthly service. To get this offer I was asked to call a particular toll free number. I have called the same number and one of their sales associate took the call and informed me that I'm good for discount and signed me up for the account. It was not even once, I confirmed with the sales associate multiple times about discount and every time I was told that I will get the discount. Once the sales associate is done with the sign up process, he told me that he is forwarding the call to customer service, and it is the customer service that will process the discount. The actual trouble starts here. Customer service says that I'm not good for discount or the plan that I have selected is not good for discount. In both the cases I was miss informed. And they say that both customer service and sales access the same discount system, that makes it even worst. How can they give conflicting info from the same system? The only way this could happen was either the sales associate must have cheated me to sign me up for the account or the customer service associates job is to decline all such requests. So that most of the people might take it light on discount as they have already signed up for the service. For me both of them are unprofessional, for now it looks like the sales associate did a mistake by miss informing me, but even the customer service associate talks about the job risk if he gives me the discount. How can any companies customer service associate will talk about the job risks with a customer. After all this the supervisor for the customer service associate came on line and starts telling new story, saying that there management is working on extending the corporate discount to the plan, that I have selected. And as usual there is ETA on when it is going to happen. She said that they will listen recording of the call and will get back to me with in 5 to 7 business days. And she simply says that they won't give the discount even though they find that I was miss informed. I have just rated average for all the other features because, since I don't have the connection yet, I can't rate the sound quality, features and reliability. But I had a very worst experience with the customer service, unfortunately there is no option for me to give less than one

Vonage does not work with FIOS. If you are on the phone your internet will not work. Nothing Vonage can do and nothing Verizon can do.

I have had vonage for about 4 years. I have not had a problem with them until lately. They are charging us up the butt for taxes, and i just had to order a new device because the one i have had for 4 years had basically gone out, they were wanting my old device back and wanting me to pay for the shipping back to them when i had to pay for the shipping of the new device to me. Then i have been having problems and they were supposed to credit me back for one month, and they never did. I am at the point right now where i am going to get rid of Vonage because not only have i been having problems with them lately and they are charging way too much, when ever i have to call in and have them help me with something the people i get cant speak english, they cant understand what i am saying and i cant understand them. So GOOD BYE VONAGE im going with verizon!!!

I am amazed at the negative reviews for Vonage. Being somewhat versed in computer issues, I have found the service to be everything they said it would be. I have had several contacts with their tech support group and they have been extremely helpful, calling me back several times to ensure that the issue was resolved. I believe that for the money, you can't beat their service. I have ported my 2 lines over to Vonage last year and have not had any outages that were Vonage related. My ISP has had some issues which we had resolved. The service is rock solid and reasonably priced. VOIP is not for everyone. You need to understand the technology and set up your router to QOS with the Mac Address. Once done, it will prioritize your Adapter over your computer traffic. All in all, a great value!

I was unhappy with my Vonage service. The sound would cut out during conversations making it difficult to understand what the person I was talking to was saying, or for them to understand me. Occasionally the Vonage box that needs to connect to their server in order for the service to work would suddenly lose its connection. So I would be disconnected from the person I was talking with, and I had to wait several minutes for the Vonage box to reconnect to their server before I could re-call the person I was talking with. The worst part was when I canceled the service they charged me $117.52 for a disconnection and equipment fee. I regret ever signing up with them and I recommend people stay away from the service.

Switched from AT&T to Vonage in October 2006. I have been very happy with their service. Their call quality is excellent (better then AT&T), with minimal dropped calls. Billing has been absolutely correct. Their website is easily accessed to check my account activity. I think my excellent call quality is derived from using a broadband cable modem connection. I think it works better then a DSL modem for a Vonage connection, because cable has faster upload and download speed then DSL. The change over from AT&T was rocky, as AT&T didn't "really hand over" my number to Vonage as I thought they would. AT&T just dropped me cold before 7:30 AM on the change over date, and left a message on my line to anyone calling stating that "service had been discontinued." It took a day's worth of calling to several Vonage tech service people to get service established with my old number. I will forever hold a grudge against AT&T for the poor way they treated me. I guess they were sore about losing me as a customer. I have recommended Vonage to friends and family, several of which have purchased Vonage. All seem to be happy with their service. All the VOIP tel companies are very small companies, including Vonage. I have some concern that any of them could go out of business at any time. However, I don't feel at risk of losing VOIP telephone service for long. I am sure that a surviving VOIP company would pick up my business in short order.

i had vonage for 2 years i liked the service, no problem at all. but lately i found that the sound quality suffered with no resolution. In vain, i quiet. Though it seemed ok earlier with same speed , now their seems to be a problem. furthermore, they increased their pricing recently that was very upsetting and it came up to $38. though i loved the savings earlier with service, now the sound quality just sank so it is better to see how it fits
