Entice customers with promotions, but will charge back end fee of at least $127 if service is cancelled earlier than two years. I do not recommend it. Customers can get competitive or even better prices if they bundle telephone services with DSL provider.

When I opened an account, the sales rep misrepresented the complexity of my DSL line and my analog line. As he told me it's easy to port my number. When I received an email from technical department, they asked me to call my telephone company and the issue has no answers. After 2 days, someone called me from Vonage want to close my account because the box sent to me was reconditioned box. I had to resend it back and I was charged for 39.99 and 8.99 and 29.xx. It was such an unpleasant experience I ever come across, and then he asked me to open another account. When I called to cancel my account, the other rep from VONAGE told me it's not necessary to close the account and just return the phone box. To make the technical issue get simple, I ended up open an account with my phone company again for a cable, TV line and get rid of the DSL line. Now, I have just to cancel the new account I?ve just opened with VONAGE again because I am not confident the technical issue which VONAGE promised to do for me.BE HONEST is the key for a successful business,not how many accounts they get but how to keep and help customers.This issue caused me in the loop of head ache,lost money. I had to open a new Uverse package with ATT.Be careful with the sweet promise of all sale people .DO NOT trust? and fall in their traps.

I have to say I am surprised by the dissatisfaction I found from other reviews. I have had Vonage for 2 years now, I have not had any issues as far as sound quality and have had no dropped calls, absolutely have been 100% satisfied. I have never had a reason to call customer service so I cannot offer any insight on that department. After the days of AT&T and the baby bells, and even currently Qwest programs, I feel it has been a great value with Vonage, I am saving over 40% of where I was two years ago, other people I know who have it have also been happy, in fact that is what influenced me to try it. I would recommend this service.

Technical support is inept... had me switching cables every time i called them and never resolved dropped calls or missed calls. Customer service is poor. They charged me $120 disconnect fees because I tried to work with them to make it right and I didn't drop them before the end of the 30 day trial period. I will NEVER use them again.

There are many choices for VoIP service, don?t settle for the worst by using Vonage. Here is my experience: 1. Poor quality. During the first 3 weeks, I had problems that couldn?t dial out when I needed to make calls. You hear a dial tone, but after entering the number the line goes silent. At the same time, people called my number heard a recorded message ?the number you dial is no longer in service, please hang up?? I contacted their tech support. They told me that my 2-line phone is not compatible with their service and wanted me to replace my phone first before further support. Does this sound logically to you? 2. Vonage bills the service charge starting on the date you sign up an account, not the date their service is available. It takes a week or more for their equipment (telephone adapter) to arrive and for you to install it properly. During this time, you pay them for no services. 3. The 30-day money-back guarantee starts on the date your account is established, not the date you start using their services. Vonage even listed a phone sex service number on their policy website when I tried to contact them to cancel the service. I got burned by this and they charged me $119.98 for early termination plus one month of service that I didn?t use. 4. I made a formal complaint and billing dispute by writing them a letter. It took them over 7 weeks to respond my complaint. Hopefully you won?t come to this. But is this the kind of customer service you want for your phone service? I had years of good experience with AT&T CallVantage before switched to Vonage (AT&T discontinued their residential VoIP service recently). Then I paid Vonage over hundred dollars and hours of my time on writing letters and on the phone for humiliation and no phone services. My mistake was blind by their commercial without doing research and comparison. I hope that you can learn from my experience and shop for a better VoIP service provider for your need.

i RECEIVED A CALL FROM VONAGE SAYING FROM NOW ON YOUR CALLS WILL BE ROUTED VIA VONAGE AND THEY WERE SENDING A BOX OUT WHICH WOULD COST ME ?16.99 INCLUDING DELIVERY AND THERE WAS NO ASKING ME WOULD I LIKE TO JOIN THE SERVICE IT WAS MORE OR LESS YOU ARE JOINING VONAGE. I`LL ADMIT THE SERVICE HOW IT WAS EXPLAINED DID SOUND IMPRESSIVE SO I GAVE IT A TRY. THE GUY ON THE PHONE SAID GIVE IT A TRY FOR 30 DAYS AND IF YOU CANCEL THE SERVICE WITHIN 30 DAYS SEND THE BOX BACK TO THEM AND THEY WILL BE NO CHARGES AND THEY WILL REFUND MY MONEY STRAIGHT BACK AND THEY ALSO SAID I WOULD USE MY EXISTING NUMBER WHICH WAS NOT TRUE. SO I PHONED THEM BACK WITHIN A DAY OF USING THE SERVICE AND CANCELLED MY ACCOUNT SO THE GUY AT CUSTOMER SERVICES THEN TOLD ME THERE WOULD BE A TEMPORARY CHARGE OF ?32.99 TILL THEY RECEIVED THERE BOX BACK AS AN INSURANCE TO THEM SO I TOLD HIM I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS SO I TOLD HIM DO NOT CANCEL MY ACCOUNT TILL THEY RECEIVE THE BOX BACK. SO I SAID I WOULD SEND IT BY SPECIAL DELIVERY WITH ROYAL MAIL SO HE SAID IF I DID IT THIS WAY I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY THE ?32.99 AND THE ACCOUNT WOULD BE CANCELLED ONCE THEY RECEIVED THE BOX BACK. SO I SAID OK, SO AFTER THE CALL I CHECKED MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT AN THERE WAS AN UNAUTHORISED PAYMENT TO VONAGE FOR ?32.99 SO I GOT IN TOUCH WITH MY CREDIT CARD PROVIDER AND THEY INVOLVED THEIR FRAUD DEPARTMENT AND CANCELLED MY CARD. THE BOX WAS SENT BACK TO THEM BY SPECIAL DELIVERY AND WHEN I CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SERVICES TO SAY THERE WAS AN UNAUTHORISED PAYMENT ON MY CREDIT CARD FROM VONAGE THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TILL THEY RECEIVED THE BOX BACK. SO NOW I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY MONEY BACK AND HAVE INVOLVED THE FRAUD DEPARTMENT AND OFCOM. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY THEY ARE FRAUDSTERS AND I AM TAKING THEM ALL THE WAY TO THE CLEANERS AS I AM GOING TO SEEK LEGAL ADVICE AND START A LAW SUIT UP AGAINST THEM.

This has been the worst experience I have ever had. They never ported my number. I had problems, such as: could not dial toll free numbers...I am on conference calls all day long...was a mess. Could not receive calls from cell phones. NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT. I work in information systems. Technology is OLD...does not WORK. They have changed the name of the company...but won't admit it. It is a wonder there is NOT a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT. They will not return my money. I went to VONAGE....very easy and reliable . I do recommend.

Frequent sound quality problems. Unable to discontinue service without paying ridiculous fees. Why they require a two year contract to sign up is beyond me and they try to hold you to this contract which I actually think is not legal if the service is unacceptable. I would stay away from this company..they are bad news.

I have Vonage since 2004 and I could say that only once it did not work for 2 hours (and I am using it on a daily basis all day long). The voice quality is really good with rare exceptions when I am told by the other side that my voice is interrupted. However, this is hard to say is because Vonage or because of INTERNET connection. Several times I checked and my upload speed was having indeed problems. Most people forget that when using VOIP both download and upload speeds are important. When you get an INTERNET connection you are always told the download speed which is higher. Then nobody tells you that the speed or better said the bandwidth is not guaranteed so it can decrease a lot, especially on evenings and week-ends. The customer service as far as I remember (I did not use it in the last 4 years) was pretty good but there was a long waiting. Their WEB site is really good and their features all included in your plan are all you need. I am using most of their features (especially forward and voice mail sent through email) and all are working without any issues. Since I got Vonage I periodically checked other VOIP providers but I did not find a better one and I also asked friends who had other VOIP providers and I found that they still occasionally have issues. So for now I stay with Vonage.

Atrocious sound quality. If we called friends and left messages they couldn't even work out who had called unless they had caller ID. Help desk is in India and because the sound quality was so poor it was extra difficult to understand their advice. On many occasions we inquired about how to improve the sound quality and they simply told us to 'move the box around until you get more lights appearing' . Maybe they needed a stronger signal and even when we did have 3 or more of the 5 lights come on it was still terrible quality. While it is affordable if it doesn't work then what is the point. Stay away from this company.
