Sound quality is excellent, connecting the router was simple, and it only took 7 days (including the weekend) for my number to port. My only disappointment came from my failure to realize I couldn't send a FAX over the same line, but if I decide I need a FAX line, it's a reasonable $10/month to add it. My phone bill is going to be just over a third of what I was paying with Qwest. I'm very pleased!

I went to Best Buy and bought the equipment for vonage. I can home to sign up on the website. This was very easy EXCEPT...they would not take my bank card (there was more than enough in the bank to cover the costs). After a week and several phone calls to customer service, which was not even in this country, another problem I have, my card had been charged 14 yes fourteen times. And yet I had no service and they say the card was never charged. What I think I found most upsetting is that I never talked to anyone in the USA. I have no prejudice against these people, BUT...as an english speaking person, I need to talk to an english speaking person in order to fully understand where my money is going. Not to mention, with all the people out of work in this country (especially my area) any company that sends that work to another country (which is most companies for anything) is not worth it. Every question I asked these people, I received a scripted answer. I might as well have been talking to a computer. I finally got my money back, but not without hassle. Bottom Line---NO SERVICE, NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT = No thanks for me.

Applied for service on a Tuesday morning. Signing up was easy, got new phone number immediately. They e-mailed me that afternoon that the adaptor was sent. Received on Friday and was up and running that evening.(4days). Had occasion to call CS once, had a cable mix up on my end. The CS woman was very patient and talked me thru until I got it right. So far they are good.

We signed up for Vonage about six weeks ago and it has been nothing but a disaster. At first, calls would break up and the person on the other end of the line could not hear us and they would hang up. But it has gotten worse! Our Vonage service was down about half of the time last week and it is down almost all of the time now. I mean totally dead! It is dead as I write this. I don't have a cell phone and if I had an emergency I would have no way of calling out. My 97 year-old father called yesterday because he needed help and he couldn't get through. Vonage support as been absolutely useless. I finally gave up on them but my wife tried to talk to them one more time two nights ago. She was on the phone (on her cell phone) for about one hour and they weren't able to offer any help at all. It's always, "Pull out all the jacks and plug them back in. Shut down the router," etc.) Nothing works. Then, hours later (if we are lucky) Vonage service comes back up for a while and then it goes down again. It has been dead all day today and probably all last night too. Vonage finally put my wife on hold the other night and after 15 minutes while she watched her wireless minutes tick away, she finally had to hang up. We have no choice now but to cancel Vonage. Vonage service has been a disaster for us and we are extremely disappointed with them, to say the least.

I had been having some problems with SunRocket as far as sound quality. That problem is a little better now that I have moved my wireless router and the SunRocket Gizmo a little farther apart. Yet and still, I was looking for a VOIP provider with a better phone adapter. So, I decided to go with the big brand name "Vonage" thinking I couldn't miss with their also brand name phone adapter from Linksys. Well, I was wrong. Ordering and setup was perfect except for the fact that Vonage is really not unlimited an unlimited service. They hide the fact that they have a long list of certain toll numbers and number prefixes that cannot be dialed using Vonage service in the FAQs. You're just out of luck, which for me, meant that most of the numbers I dialed got the fastbusy signal error. I really wish I would have known that upfront instead of going through installing the phone only to find out that Vonage is useless for me. Customer service gave me no problem when I called to cancel, but really. Vonage is all hype, but when it comes to providing a phone that is comparable with a landline, there are too many "little details" which make the service too bothersome to deal with.

Wow... even using the term Customer Service is a misnomer... because they have none. After one month of signing up I never saw or heard a peep from them. Not a peep. They charged me though, no question about that - fast as lightning. WHIP! Funds gone. But when I called to ask where my welcome package was they told me that my account was pending because my account was empty. It wasn't. Then they told me they didn't charge me. They did. More than 2 hours of hold time. 4 different people, and I FINALLY got someone to cancel my account. No idea if I'll ever actually see the refund (I seriously have my doubts) but I am absolutely THRILLED that I am no longer a Vonage customer. Absolutely horrifying service - ruined my day twice in a row.

As long as you don't have to call them for any assistance you are ok. They are not helpful at all. Expect problems and don't expect solutions. You will be on hold for a long time and you will get hung up on. I wish I would have talked my friends prior to going to Vonage because several have said the same thing. Bad Bad company

I don't want to be hyper-negative just based on my current frustration level, but I've been on the phone with Vonage customer support for four hours today, and I'm really ticked off. I've only really had a couple of technical issues. The worst one is that Vonage cannot give me an exchange within my area code that is "local" to people that live near me. There was no warning or ability to check for this when ordering the service. This is going to cause me a lot of frustration and cost me some money to switch back. But I'm a reasonable person. I can understand this. I mainly want to vent about the truly ABYSMAL customer service. HOW can they expect to stay in business with this kind of TERRIBLE support. If you can't find people that can speak English well enough to communicate with your customers, then you are guaranteed to anger your customers and drive them away. In trying to resolve the above issue, I was lied to, hung up on and placed on hold seven different times. Three of those times I was told that I was being transferred to a supervisor when in fact I was just being dumped back in the hold queue. I was also told by a customer rep that they don't have external phone numbers at Vonage, so it would be impossible to call someone directly about the terrible service. That same rep told me that he didn't have a supervisor, so he couldn't transfer me to him. Imagine that, a call center without a supervisor!! Guys, that is just an outright LIE. Now I know it wasn't the rep's fault. The only possible explanation is that the supervisor was tired of hearing from irate customers and told his people not to transfer any more. Not a good sign. Again, the phone service itself hasn't been all that bad, except for the surprise long distance issue. But you just cannot metaphorically urinate on your customers like this!!! Its insane!!

Worst company ever, my wife and I spend between us 10 hours on the phone just this week with Vonage. They are rude and nasty. The product is horrible and I will never deal with them again. Please think twice before dealing with them

I called customer service to sign up over the phone. Wanted 2 lines - 1 voice line @24.99 and a $9.99 fax line. Was promised I could transfer my current telephone number to my fax line. After hanging up, went online and saw the girl didn't even order my fax line although she told me over and over she was. After 1 1/2 hours on the phone, with 3 different people, was told what I wanted was not possible - therefore I was lied to, so I would sign up. Customer service was not helpful in resolving the issue, only saying "That is impossible" when I would explain what I wanted to do. Customer service agents also seemed to be very scripted and did not know how to respond to something that the script did not cover. Waited for my box to arrive in the mail. Prior to receiving it, I decided to NOT port my current number and to change my calling plan to a lower $14.99 one, since they could not provide the service I requested and was promised. They quoted me a $10 charge to change my calling plan, of which I had not even used yet. After dealing with countless customer service people (most of which can barely speak English), all of which were extremely unhelpful, I decided to cancel my service and send everything back. The next day, my box arrived and it was promptly shipped back. We'll see now what happens..
